Dr. Sarah Chahine
Position: Assistant Professor, Chairperson of the Management Information Systems Department, Lead of the Entrepreneurship, Progress & Innovation Center (EPIC), and School of Business Representative in the Office of International Relations (OIR).
Dr. Sarah Chahine is an Assistant Professor at the School of Business, Lebanese International University (LIU), Lebanon, where she serves as Chairperson of the Management Information Systems Department and leads the Entrepreneurship, Progress & Innovation Center (EPIC). She also represents the School of Business within LIU’s Office of International Relations, contributing to the development of international academic partnerships and collaborative initiatives.
Dr. Chahine holds a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom. Her doctoral research examined the interconnectedness within entrepreneurial ecosystems, with a particular focus on the role of social capital in fostering entrepreneurship. Her research interests include entrepreneurial ecosystems, entrepreneurship education, social entrepreneurship, technology entrepreneurship, and circular entrepreneurship.
Beyond her academic responsibilities, Dr. Chahine plays an active role in designing and implementing entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives that connect academia with industry and the wider entrepreneurial ecosystem. She has led and coordinated numerous entrepreneurship competitions, bootcamps, workshops, mentoring programs, and networking events aimed at fostering entrepreneurial mindsets and supporting student-led innovation across LIU’s campuses. She has also represented the university in several international collaborations and capacity-building initiatives, including Erasmus+ projects and partnerships with leading academic and entrepreneurial institutions.
Her research has been published in peer-reviewed international journals and presented at academic conferences. Her recent work focuses on entrepreneurial motivation, necessity- versus opportunity-driven entrepreneurship in crisis contexts, female technopreneurship, technopreneurial education, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, and entrepreneurial ecosystems. Her research employs advanced quantitative methodologies, including structural equation modeling, to investigate factors influencing entrepreneurial intentions and behavior.
Dr. Chahine teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in management information systems, entrepreneurship, business analytics, database management, e-business, and emerging technologies. She is actively involved in curriculum development, academic quality assurance, and supervising student research projects. In addition, she serves as a reviewer for international journals and conferences and remains committed to advancing entrepreneurship education, innovation, and sustainable economic development through research, teaching, and community engagement.
