Prof. Sélim Mekdessi

Position: Full Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Lebanese University

Prof. Sélim Mekdessi holds an Accreditation/Habilitation to Supervise Research (HDR) in Business Sciences and a Ph.D. in Business Sciences (Finance – Innovation) from Jean Moulin University Lyon III, France. His academic background focuses on finance, innovation, and sustainable global performance.

Throughout his academic and professional career, he has combined expertise in finance, innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainable performance, higher education development, and institutional leadership. As Dean, he leads the academic and administrative management of the Faculty across six geographical branches, overseeing a large academic community of professors, researchers, administrative staff, and students.

Prof. Mekdessi has played a major role in developing innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems at the Lebanese University. He is the co-founder of MILES (Momentum Incubator for Lebanese Startups), co-founder of Center MINE (Center for Careers, Innovation and Entrepreneurship), co-founder of the Center for Sustainability and Gender Equality, and founder of several innovation and digital fabrication laboratories supported by international partners.

His teaching, research, and professional interests encompass finance, SMEs, entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainable performance, financial resilience, organizational development, employability, and higher education reform. He has authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications, book chapters, reports, and conference papers addressing finance, entrepreneurship, SMEs, sustainability, and institutional development.

Prof. Mekdessi is actively involved in international academic cooperation, accreditation, quality assurance, and research evaluation initiatives. Through his academic leadership, research, and international engagement, he seeks to promote innovative, financially sustainable, and socially responsible models that support economic development, entrepreneurial initiatives, and positive societal impact.
